Monté Melkonian was an Armenian freedom fighter born in 1957 in California. He became an Armenian National Hero as a commander in the 1990’s during the first Artsakh War. Through his inspiration and national pride, he helped lead the Artsakh Defense Army to victory, securing Martuni and liberating Karvajar from Azerbaijani forces.
The design and shirt colors are inspired by traditional Armenian “Daraz” or attire from our ancestral lands in Western Armenia. Daraz today is represented through costumes worn for traditional Armenian dance.
